The Facebook Effect

                                                   The Facebook Effect

We as human beings are trying to do something extra ordinary which we have not done before,
or could not do earlier. Trying to Show Off. If we look at other species on the face of earth, each species of living being has something to show off, size, colors, etc.
But human beings for millions years have evolved to being the intelligent and the dominant species, but never had anything to show off. And then came Facebook, it gave a chance for the human species to show off. Now we could show off our dress, wealth, toys, love etc etc, which makes me realize why Facebook is such a big success, it gave the humans an opportunity which they did not have for so long. Facebook started as a phenomenon to share, now it has evolved to show something to people which they normally would not have. Now people are doing things to show on facebook. This is what I call The Facebook Effect. People doing things which normally they would not have done, but are doing because Facebook is there.

Today Facebook is valued at 100$ USD, lets see how long we, humans, celebrate it.

We are the World Champions

Well, that’s it, end of madness and beginning of the party. Match Khatam ho gaye, lekin party abhi baki hai. Match befitting a final, we are the deserved winners, defeated Australia in the QF and Pakistan in the SF and Srilanka in the Finals.
There was time when India was chasing and Sachin got out, most of the TV’s in India would be switched off in anticipation of a defeat, not any more. Off late our team has chased big totals very well. But yesterday we had our hearts pounding in our mouths, and a brief spell of uncertainity, but Dhoni put to rest all the uncertainties.
I was watching the match, together with some of my college friends at a friend’s place, after the match when I was driving back home from Outter Ring road (ORR) to BommanHalli, the mood was totally different. There were too many vehicles on the road, honking, people celebrating wildly, shouting in their cars. A group of college students were stopping each car on the ORR and shaking hands with the people on the road. They were chased by the police. There was this incident when a car hit a bike from behind and bike fell over and the 2 riders on the bike fell down. I thought the bike guy would get up and smack the face of the car driver, but no, when the car driver stepped out, the bike guy hugged him and both of started shouting. Well, you never see this in Bangalore, this is case for an ideal exchange of fists, but here we have 2 people hugging and shouting. This is what Cricket does to us, it makes us do stupid things.
There were too may bike riders with 3 people on the bike shouting and driving wildy. It was past midnight, generally at this hour, the street dogs would be chasing the 2 wheelers. But not today, there were too many 2 wheelers on the roads, shouting and honking. The dogs would be wondering, what the hell happened to these humans, why are they shouting like us, too bad they don’t know India has won the Cricket world cup.
Yes, we are the world Champions.

True Love ???

Sometime back I was having a conversation with a friend of mine, this topic came up for discussion, Love. We were debating whether there is something called Love existing between two people, obviously I am not mentioning love between parent-child, siblings etc, etc. This is about 2 people falling in love and being together, you know what I mean. We could not come to a conclusion on what it is.

If we go one step ahead and talk about True Love. Is there something called "True Love". This is a very sticky topic for me, now that I am happily married for 4 years. I begin to wonder is this a right time to ask this question? Nonetheless I am looking for answers. Most people, including my wife, may not agree with me that there is nothing called as True love. I have heard people saying True Love is selfless, timeless and so on. If you ask me, there is an expiry date for everything.

If people really believe in True love, the greatest tragedy of True love is, your true love is never your spouse, your true love is always somebody else’s spouse and the greatest irony is, even though your spouse is true love, you will always think that some else is your true love. So does it mean that True Love is someone whom you never married to?

Ok, why is there a word marriage in true love? Is marriage culmination of love and/or beginning of missing of what is true love?

Do arranged marriages have the concept of True Love? Arranged marriages, mostly in India are arranged by parents. Our parents choose the spouse for us. As most married couples start this new journey in their lives, they tend to admire and adore their spouse as they go on. Eventually they may fall in love with each other or they may tend to drift apart. In my case, my parents chose my spouse, eventually I fell in love with her. Is it true love? I don’t know. Does True love exist, I don’t know.

What does love mean for me?
Love means not to conquer her, but to see her happy and healthy, even if she is not with you.

Let me know what you think, about this topic, Love ??

Please note: Before you make your comment, make sure your spouse doesn’t know your comments or your comments are inline with your spouse . Why??? Because, I don’t know if true love exists or not, but there truly exists a divorce lawyer.
